Querying is such a rollercoaster and it sounds like you’re putting everything you’ve learnt into your next novel - good luck with the writing!

Yes, the process with this one feels so different. And I hope that also shows through in how I’m writing it.

The path to traditional publishing is such a long road. I have no doubt that it is just a right-place-right-time sort of thing. I hope that when you're ready to take this manuscript out of the drawer, the stars will align.

Thank you, Jackie! When you read the success stories, it really does tell that way, doesn’t it? I just hope I can tweak it enough when I return to it and that the timing proves optimal 🤞

I completely feel this, Kat! It's such a discouraging, arbitrary process. I've put aside querying my mid-grade novel again for the same reasons. As Dorit d'Scarlett says, "...what's wrong with these people anyway?!" Especially when you look at some of the crap that does get published. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Onward!

So discouraging – and yet we keep on doing it to ourselves! Suckers for punishment ;)

Thanks for sharing this Kat - makes me feel seen and like I’m not alone facing the rejections. (Even though we both clearly have brilliant stories and what is wrong with these people anyway?!)
